I drive a 04 BMW 325xi. I would say my car size is comparable in size to a VW Jetta. The carseat does fit in my car just fine, I can see out the back seat just fine. HOWEVER, I do have to place the seat behind the passenger side with the front seat slightly up and forward. To us, this was no big deal since we had to do this with our previous Chicco Keyfit carseat. The seat is solid built quality and I, as a mother, feel my child is as safe and snug as he could be. Our son is 7 months old and he fits very well in it. He still falls asleep easily and I have noticed his neck doesn't fall sideways like it did in the Chicco. This seat will last him up till the age of close to 6 and for the price you cannot get better than that! We chose the color/style Envy and colors match that in the picture. The material is lightweight and seems easy to wipe clean. The straps are long enough for growth. He loves that he can see out the window. For those reviewers who have complained about minuet details, they probably have nothing better to complain about. If you are a rational thinking person who expects to get what you pay for and expects it to last you will love this carseat hands down!

Overall not thrilled. Love the material and safety features. However, I can no longer see the baby because back too high, and the base is so large that the baby is touching the roof. It is stylish and the materials great.

Comments about Recaro ProRide Convertible Car Seat (Blue Opal):

Great once it is installed--had to put a towel under it to level it--would be bulky in a smaller vehicle--we have a Denali so no problem. Sits up high and baby can see outside so he loves it!

Comments about Recaro ProRide Convertible Car Seat (Hanna):

I did a lot of research on car seats and really wanted the next car seat for our daughter to be "safe". I liked the idea that Recaro was designed and developed by folks that design and develop car seats for race car drives - surely that means they know what they are doing and if ever (hopefully never) we had a major collison or impact - that baby would be safe. Well, we have a Toyota 4Runner - so yes, it is an SUV but it also has a narrower back door than most SUVs and the open space between the door and the car seat would require feet in first type of manuevering to get our daughter in and out (we are still using it rear facing) so I had to return the Recaro :( It is a very good looking chair and the construction looks sturdy and solid. We exchanged it for the Diono RXT and have used for a couple of times. It does not look as "cool" as the Recaro but it has a lot more room for in and out with the baby because I do not think it is propped up as high when installed. Please note, I battled with the decision to keep the Recaro and put my daughter forward facing (if that were the case, the space to take her in and out would not have been an issue) but because of all the advice to keep babies rear facing for as long as possible (up to 2 years). I did what I did.
