I think it goes without saying the quality and safety that is backed by Recaro. Upon first fitting of the carseat in a 2013 Ford Escape we noticed that the base is huge. The front passenger seat has to be moved up signifiantly more where the passenger has their knees touching the dash. Minor inconvenience. The tilt mechanism on the base seems to collapse and not stay up either in a more sporty style seat. So the carseat base can deffinatly use a redesign. We actually had a carseat get stuck in the base and was unable to get it out. But one of the main reasons I stayed with Recaro is because of their customer service. They sent out a new carseat and base within three days. It was unfortunate but things happen. We compared this carseat and base against a few other carseat's on the market for sizing in the Escape and came out taking up the most room. Now as for comfort I cannot tell you, but as far as my newborn son goes there hasn't been a time yet where he has cried or fussed in the seat. He seems very comfortable and stress free when he is strapped in. As for myself I am happy knowing that he is comfortable and safe. The ease of use is unspeakable. It is very simple getting him in and out of the carseat. When carrying him around in the seat I have an easy time with the comfortable handle and light weight. Overall I would highly recommend this carseat.

I own a Recaro ProSport and absolutely love it, and was very excited that the Performance Coupe was released just in time for my new baby. However, upon receiving the seat I was disappointed in the overall quality of the seat. The cover pulls forward off the shell of the seat, which is mildly annoying. I do really like the HALO system and the straps adjust easily, but the release button to loosen the straps is recessed deep in the seat, and is a bit tricky to access. Installing it in my car revealed a few issues: this seat takes up a huge amount of room, because of the way it is designed to fit into the base. It looks great for providing lots of legroom for bigger babies, but it means that the seat isn't practical for parents with small vehicles and/or tall drivers. Next, getting the proper angle in my 2014 Malibu was impossible. The adjustable recline foot did not extend far enough to achieve the proper angle according to the bubble level system. There is an additional recline foot for this exact scenario, but it does not lock into position in any way. Due to the way my seats are shaped, extending this additional recline foot and applying pressure to install caused the foot to collapse and fold back under. I was a certified child passenger safety technician for six years, and am very familiar with installing car seats. I also took this seat to a seat check event to enlist the help of other CPSTs in the hope that I was missing something. A team of techs, including three instructors, all agreed after over an hour with the seat that it is incompatible in my vehicle with the base, and that the quick flip recline is a design flaw. Overall, despite being a Recaro fan, I'm disappointed in the quality of this seat and don't feel it corresponds either with the Recaro name or the price tag.

Comments about RECARO Performance Coupe Infant Car Seat (Granite):

We bought this car seat for our first child and LOVE IT! Makes us feel great about having her in it. So safe. I had a problem with the locking system and I called customer service and they had no problem with replacing the car seat& base with no charge to us. We now need a bigger car seat and are going with Recaro again!!

In love with this seat!

Comments about RECARO Performance Coupe Infant Car Seat (Granite):

I am a Mom of six children. I am also a Paramedic. I know how much safety is important to all parents. I have seen some horrible accidents with some good and bad outcomes. This infant seat held up tremendously in a accident that I responded to. The baby was not injured in the accident. A large part was due to the car seat the baby was traveling in. The parents also took great care in having the car seat installed properly. As a Paramedic and a Mom I was very impressed by how the car seat held up.

Gets stuck

By EandLsmom

Comments about RECARO Performance Coupe Infant Car Seat (Granite):

I am a huge huge fan of recaro seats, with our first we got a convertible and now a convertible booster, when we found out we we're expecting number 2, one of our first buys was our infant coupe, got it thought I was going to love it, many months later baby #2 arrived and came home from the hospital in our recaro, and it was problems from there on out, with the seat getting stuck in all (3) of the additional bases we got. It creaked and made noise while carrying it, sounded like cheap plastic. Needless to say we got so frustrated that we went out and got a britax 35 elite and absolutely love it, I wouldn't recommend this infant seat to any of my expecting mom or dads. We will continue to purchess convertable and boosters from you but I'm very disappointed in this infant seat.

Great infant seat!

Comments about RECARO Performance Coupe Infant Car Seat (Granite):

We have been using this seat for the last 6 months and have been extremely satisfied with the quality and performance. I like how deep my son is nestled into the seat which shows how well it would protect him in a side impact crash. The base is very easy to install and it releases easily from the base and into the Denali stroller. We have at this point remove the extra padding meant for a newborn and I expect him to still fit in the seat for a few more months. I like that the handle is used as a rebound bar as well. There are only a few downsides with this seat: the flip out leg on the base always collapses when I add pressure to tighten the strap. We've used the micro adjust wheel to extend the height of the base and that has worked great. The shoulder pads are quite bulky and my son fusses and looks uncomfortable since they push up on his cheeks. All in all I've been extremely happy with this seat and can tell how well the construction is compared to friends infant seats such as the Eddie Bauer.
