These do work. I use one of them in the baby tub and find that it works well but is actually a little too sensitive. The words "HOT" appear when the water is actually not hot enough in my opinion, more like lukewarm. So I just use it as a guide. You could buy the pack of them, just use a couple and divy the rest up as gifts.
