What is 2-Phase Expression Technology?
Through research, Medela learned that there are two distinct phases of how babies breastfeed. The Stimulation Phase is fast and light sucking to start milk flowing followed by the Expression Phase, slow and stronger sucking to deliver more milk faster. Pump In Style Advanced breastpumps have exclusive 2-Phase Expression technology that mimics a baby's natural nursing pattern.

Comments about Medela Pump In Style® Advanced Metro Bagâ¢:
I have found the pump to work great and be quite comfortable, given the adjustable levels. I find it convenient that the motor separates from the bag in this model. The biggest negative is that the bag for this model was larger than I expected so is quite a load to tote around when full. I will probably end up leaving the bag and motor (the heaviest component) at work and carry the items that need to be transported in a smaller bag. If I had to purchase again, I would probably try to find a more compact model.

Comments about Medela Pump In Style® Advanced Metro Bagâ¢:
I started out renting a Medela Symphony (hospital grade), which was absolutely awesome. After 3 months I switched to a Pump In-Style from 2005, the 12-volt version, for my daily use pump at work, and I love it. I then bought the 2010 Pump In-Style Metro to keep at home so I wouldn't have to schlep another bag around every day.
I love the portability of the Metro pump, which is removable from the bag (unlike the 2005 version). I also like the size of the bag, as it fits more pump kits/tubing/storage bags/whatever. To be honest I love everything about the 2010 PIS Metro except the suction.
For me personally, the 9-volt does not have enough suction. I can barely pump 2oz total with the 9-volt motor, versus the 12-volt with which I usually get 4-6 oz (same time of day). I wish they still made the 12-volt motor, I would LOVE to get it in the Metro bag.
