I bought this carrier when my son was 5 months old, and I'm not sure how I functioned without it when my daughter was little! I used this carrier on a trip to Las Vegas in the beginning of August. Even in the 100+ degree weather, this carrier was awesome! My son and I were both extremely comfortable while walking around outside in the extreme heat. Having this carrier makes it a breeze to go through airport security, shop, do housework, etc. I never leave home without my Ergo!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I had to for this product. I am super bummed that I wasted so much money on it. I used only a ring sling with my first child, but wanted the option of an SSC with my second. After a lot of research on SSCs, I chose this one because of the Ergo's excellent reputation, recommendations from friends who love their regular Ergos, and we would be moving south when baby was a few months old. I thought this would be just like a regular Ergo, but more breathable. It is definitely not. I purchased the carrier when I was pregnant, then a natural infant insert after baby arrived and was just 6 lbs 11 oz. I used it a few times with her as a newborn and it was relatively comfortable to wear. She fit snugly in the insert and seemed happy in there. She grew very quickly and soon the insert wasn't necessary, but the little pillow was. This is when I realized just how weirdly shaped this carrier really is. Getting the little pillow placed and her with it was ridiculous. It moved around inside. It wasn't quite high enough for baby to see anything outside the carrier. I even tried using blankets to boost her instead, which was a little easier to maneuver, but still uncomfortable for both of us. The older she got, the worse this situation was. She is now 9 months old and we moved from NY to GA a few months ago. First, it's still quite hot, mesh or not. Second, she is huge for her age (she was 28 inches long and 18 lbs at just 6 months old) but STILL her head doesn't stick out of this carrier. She will arch her back, pull on the straps and strain to see out or scrunch her body down and shove her face under my arm to look out the armpit hole. She is not happy in there like she is in the ring sling, wrap, or even the cheap SSC I picked up to use around the house instead of this one. We both love baby wearing, just not this awful carrier. One-size-fits-most seems like a great selling point for this carrier. My husband and I would both be able to use it! But despite being an average size adult woman (5' 6" and 150 lbs), I have to tighten every strap on this (save the waist) all the way down as small as it will go. Again, the front is so long that it just swallows my baby. As you can imagine, having her trying to peek out by whatever means necessary is really uncomfortable for us both and frustrating for her. Not what you want when baby wearing. The carrier is well made and straps are secure, but easy to adjust, just as one would expect from the Ergo brand. It's an ill-fitting, massively long carrier. I wish I had been able to return it once I realized it was just never going to work for us. In the image she was 20 lbs. and had rolled receiving blankets plus my hand holding her up higher.

I want to love it!!

Comments about ERGObaby Performance Baby Carrier (Ventus Graphite):

I am so disappointed with this carrier! The back really comes up too high! It was ok when she was itty bitty because she would just snuggle in there, she slept all the time anyway. But now that she is one, she wants to look around and the top of the back is on her head. She gets so frustrated! It is very well made and comfortable for me to wear. Im just not sure why the back was made so much higher than the rest of the carriers, my daughter can't stand it. Unfortunately I think I am not going to be able to take this back now. I have waited too long.
